Due to the ongoing technical issue with one of our refuse collection vehicles, we are currently operating with only one vehicle. 

As a result, commercial general waste collections that were due to take place on Thursday 20th August will now be carried out from Monday 24th August onwards while we work to clear the backlog of missed premises. 

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Islay

Due to operational reasons on Thursday 20th August and Friday 21st August, the Glengorm Civic amenity site will be closed for domestic waste and recycling, returning to normal hours on Saturday 22nd August.

Oban, Lorn and the Isles

We are unable to carry out commercial glass collections in Dunoon due to a vehicle breakdown. 

An update will be provided once a rescheduled collection date has been arranged.

Dunoon

Our food waste route is partially down today (19/08/26) due to an issue with the hire vehicle. 

If your bin has been missed, please leave it out and we will attend tomorrow morning.

Helensburgh and Lomond

Due to a technical issue with one of our refuse collection vehicles, we are currently only operating with one. As a result, the recycling collection that was scheduled to take place on Monday 17th August around Gruinart and the Rhinns was not carried out and will now take place on Thursday 20th August. Please have your bins ready for collection.

Islay

Oban, Lorn and the Isles

Due to a vehicle breakdown, all refuse collections for Tiree and Coll have been suspended until further notice. 

An update will be provided as soon as collections can resume.

Oban, Lorn and the Isles

Green bins on Serpentine Road and Mountpleasant Road will be collected a day later than the published schedule going forward, with uplifts taking place on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays. 

We hope to have the bin collection calendars on our website updated soon to reflect this change.

Rothesay

The Council is making arrangements for the diversions below to be put in place and for ‘Business as usual’ signs to be put up to support businesses in the street affected.

East bound vehicles 

Diverted from West Clyde Street left onto William Street and then right onto West Princes Street. Continuing along West Princes Street / East Princes Street turn right onto Glenfinlas Street and left onto East Clyde Street

West Bound vehicles

Diverted from East Clyde Street right onto Charlotte Street and then left onto East Princes Street. Continuing along East Princes Street / West Princes Street turn left onto James Street and right onto West Clyde Street

East bound pedestrians

Diverted from West Clyde Street left onto Sinclair Street and then right onto East Princes Street. Continuing along East Princes Street turn right onto Maitland Street and left onto East Clyde Street

West bound pedestrians

Diverted from East Clyde Street right onto Maitland Street and then left onto East Princes Street. Continuing along East Princes Street turn left onto Sinclair Street and right onto West Clyde Street

Helensburgh Central

Due to subsidence on a section of Ardencraig Road, a temporary closure has been put in place. 

An update will be provided once a full assessment has taken place. 

Pedestrian access may be limited when work is ongoing. 

Isle of Bute

Scottish Water will be undertaking a watermain upgrade along the B8016 at the River Laggan Road Bridge. Work is scheduled to begin on the 9th of March 2026 and is expected to take approximately three months to complete.  

Due to the nature and location of the works, a section of B8016 will be fully closed throughout the duration of the project.

Islay

There is currently an ongoing issue with the postcode look-up on the payment portal. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our provider is looking into this. 

All of Argyll and Bute

The A83 Lochnell Street re-opened this afternoon (24 December) under traffic signal control.

Parking restrictions on Lorne Street, Union Street and Manse Brae have now been revoked.

Electric Vehicle Charger Faults

We have some faults across our network of EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.
