Road and Footway Closure - East Clyde Street, Helensburgh

Due to dangerous buildings, East Clyde Street (A814) has been closed from Sinclair Street to Maitland Street (including pedestrian access) to protect public safety. Access will remain to the commercial and residential premises between the buildings and Maitland Road, from the east side of the town. The road and pedestrian closure will be in place until the buildings are made safe, and this is likely to involve partial or full demolition of the properties. This is expected to take some months, with next steps and timescale to be confirmed once the options are considered.

The Council is making arrangements for the diversions below to be put in place and for ‘Business as usual’ signs to be put up to support businesses in the street affected.

Details of the diversions:

  • East bound vehicles - Diverted from West Clyde Street left onto William Street and then right onto West Princes Street. Continuing along West Princes Street / East Princes Street turn right onto Glenfinlas Street and left onto East Clyde Street
