Website translation services

How to use our "Recite me" assistive toolbar on the website to translate the pages into other languages, and activate the "text-to-speech" function for reading out content.

We provide the "Recite me" assistive toolbar on our website, so you can easily switch on translation services to access our webpages in over 100 other languages, or have the pages read aloud using the "text-to-speech" function.

How to open the Recite me toolbar

The toolbar needs to use cookies to work, and to display on each webpage you visit, so to open the toolbar, you first need to accept cookies on our website.

Cookies - click on this symbol on the webpage to set your cookies preferences

When you click on the button for "Accept non-essential cookies", this will let you open the Recite me toolbar, and access the translation services.

In the green footer section at the bottom of each page on the website, there is a link for Accessibility Tools. When you click on this link, it opens the Recite me toolbar.

Once the toolbar is open, you can select the service you want from the buttons in the toolbar -

  • Change language by selecting the translation button
  • Have the webpage read out loud to you by selecting the text-to-speech button

Other options are also available through the toolbar, like changing font size, background colour, various page structuring options and downloading the audio of a webpage.

You can find out more about the options available on the toolbar on the Recite me website

Gaelic translation

Its really easy to switch the webpages from English to Gaelic - if you have accepted cookies, you will see 2 new options in the main menu - one for English and one for Gaelic. To translate the webpages into Gaelic, just click on the Gaelic option in the menu - you don't even have to open the Recite me toolbar to easily switch between English and Gaelic.
