We adopted the current Argyll and Bute Local Development Plan in March 2015.
We are now preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP2), which will set out planning and development proposals for the next 10 years from 2020 and a vision for 20 years. The plan will cover all of the Argyll and Bute Council area, apart from the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Area (LLTNP), where a separate Local Development Plan is prepared by the National Park Authority.
Local Development Plan 2 is due for adoption in 2020.
The first stage of the LDP2 process is a public consultation called the Main Issues Report. This report sets out, through a series of questions, how the proposed new Local Development Plan 2 might differ from the existing Local Development Plan and asks people’s views on those proposals.
You can view the Main Issues Report and also respond to the consultation questions by using our new online storymap (recommended)
You can download a PDF version of Main Issues Report (pdf 20mb)
You can answer the consultations questions directly through our online form
The documents can also be viewed at all public libraries and the council offices at 1a Manse Brae, Lochgilphead, PA31 8RD
The consultation will run for 8 weeks until 11th December 2017.
The Main Issues Report is also accompanied by the following supporting documents:
Monitoring Report (pdf 5mb)
Equalities Impact Assessment (pdf 0.3mb)
Drop in events
You can meet the Development Policy officers to discuss the Main Issues Report, at the drop-in events between 4pm and 6pm at the venues listed below:

The Development Plan Scheme sets out the Council’s programme for preparing the replacement Local Development Plan. This is the first update of the Development Plan Scheme setting out the programme for the replacement Local Development Plan, which will be called LDP2. It sets out key milestones in the LDP2 process and how people can become engaged at those stages. It also provides a timetable that will deliver LDP2 within the required 5 year period from adoption of the current Local Development Plan.
