We are now preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP2), which will replace the current Local Development Plan which was adopted in 2015. The plan will cover all of the Argyll and Bute Council area, apart from the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Area (LLTNP), where a separate Local Development Plan is prepared by the National Park Authority.
Local Development Plan 2 - Examination
The Council has sent Proposed Local Development Plan 2 and all unresolved representations to the Scottish Government requesting an Examination into the issues raised. The Scottish Government had now appointed a Reporter to conduct the independent Examination which will start on 18th May 2022. Documentation relating to the Examination is hosted on the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division website.

Main Issues Report
The first formal stage of the LDP2 process was the Main Issues Report which helped inform the production of Proposed Local Development Plan 2.
The report set out, through a series of questions, how Proposed Local Development Plan 2 might differ from the existing Local Development Plan and asked people’s views on those proposals.
We ran an 8 week consultation on the Main Issues Report between 16th October and 11th December 2017. The consultation has now closed. Thank you to all those who responded.
You can still view the Main Issues Report using the online storymap.
The Main Issues Report was accompanied by the following supporting documents:
