Local Development Plan 2

We adopted the current Argyll and Bute Local Development Plan in March 2015.

We have now started work on preparing a replacement Local Development Plan (known as Local Development Plan 2 or LDP2 for short).  The plan will cover all of the Argyll and Bute Council area, apart from the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Area (LLTNP), where a separate Local Development Plan is prepared by the National Park Authority.

Local Development Plan 2 is due for adoption in 2020.

Consultation open now!

The Place Standard Tool and Call for Ideas are questionnaires to help with one of the first stages in preparing Local Development Plan 2 and help us gather ideas about the land use issues that are important to you.  This information will help us draw up the Main Issues Report, which we will consult on in October of this year. The Main Issues Report is the first statutory consultation for LDP2 and will contain options for the future development of Argyll and Bute (excluding LLTNP).

As well as the Main Issues Report, the responses to the Place Standard Tool will also be used to assist Community Planning develop appropriate partnership action plans, to assist the Council’s Economic Development and Strategic Transportation teams in in undertaking regeneration initiatives and other projects and to assist Argyll and Bute Roads and Amenity Services develop transportation and community facilities initiatives.

Place Standard Tool

We want to find out what you think about the place you live. To do this we are using the Place Standard Tool, which has been developed by the Scottish Government to tell us what works well, or not so well for you and your community.  This covers the whole of Argyll and Bute, including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Call for Ideas

The Call for Ideas questionnaire contains specific land use questions and is split into three sections. Responses will only be used to inform the preparation of the Main Issues Report and therefore the Call for Ideas only covers the part of Argyll and Bute not in the National Park.

Development Plan Scheme

The Development Plan Scheme sets out the Council’s programme for preparing the replacement Local Development Plan. This is the first Development Plan Scheme setting out the programme for the replacement Local Development Plan, which will be called LDP2. It sets out key milestones in the LDP2 process and how people can become engaged at those stages. It also provides a timetable that will deliver LDP2 within the required 5 year period from adoption of the current Local Development Plan.
