Think about taking out a wedding insurance policy

Start thinking about the documents you will need to supply to support your marriage paperwork application.

If either of you are not British Citizens or have been in a previous marriage or civil partnership, there may be additional requirements.

Start thinking about what you would like said during your ceremony.

Would you like to write your own vows? Would you like to involve your friends and family in the ceremony? Do you have a favourite reading or poem you would like performed?

3 Months

You can submit your marriage paperwork from 3 months prior to your marriage

2 Months

Contact the registrar with any requirements for your ceremony.

Choose music and readings if required

Make sure your paperwork has been submitted or will be very soon.

 

 
1 Month

Your marriage paperwork MUST be with the registrar for 29 days prior to your date of marriage to allow your marriage schedule to be issued prior to your date of marriage.

The relevant fees must also have been paid.

On the Day

When you choose a registrar for your wedding they will bring the schedule on the day and take it away to be registered, one less job for you!

All you have to do on the day is enjoy yourself!

After the Big Day
