We Love Weddings!

The Argyll and Bute Registrar’s love weddings and one of the most special things for us is to get feedback from you afterwards and to see your lovely pictures to remember the special day.

If you have been married by one of the Argyll and Bute Registrar’s we would love to hear from you, your feedback means the world to us!

First off can I just say how lovely Jane was, I hadn't a clue what to do with all the paperwork and she helped me through it all before the big day. We really felt comfortable saying our vows with her and it probably showed to our guests Thank you so much for a lovely ceremony and anyone to have you at their wedding in the future is lucky to have you.

From the very first communication, the team at Argyll and Bute Registrars couldn’t have been more helpful. Samantha was an absolute pleasure to work with. She took the time to talk us through the ceremony, consider additional factors about the day (and venue), and was so easy to get along with. Our ceremony was wonderfully personal, filled with giggles and eye rolls (from us, not her!) and really reflected us as a couple. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the whole team. Thank you so much.

We had an absolutely wonderful ceremony. It was personal because we had liaised with Gemma to ensure we include poetry, song and a piece of pipe music played by a friend Chris Barber. Gemma chosen an Excellent script to accompany our ceremony which was meaningful and purposeful. Afterwards Gemma dropped the marriage certificate into the Beaumont hotel where we were staying. I cannot praise her highly enough for her sensitivity and care in making a very special day for us both. Thank you, Dave and Elaine

We had the most special day when we got married, a day people involved will never forget! We got married at Kilmartin Castle during amber rain alert and the surrounding areas became flooded within few hours. Thankfully few people did not give up including our hairdresser Leeanne Fraser, photographer Bill Baillie and most importantly our celebrant Lorna Wilson who was so determined to celebrate our wedding that she hitched a lift from her neighbour on his tractor! Despite the eventful weather we managed to tie the knot in the cosy grand salon of Kilmartin Castle.

Maria was absolutely amazing. She kept in touch beforehand and was totally lead by us. Nothing was too much trouble and any questions we had were answered promptly and thoroughly. We can’t thank her enough for the absolutely amazing ceremony. It was just beautiful and all our guests commented on how personal to us it was. Maria was obviously born to do this job! Norma was so approachable and friendly, perfect for our relaxed wedding on the beach. She definitely went above and beyond for us ❤️ We were so lucky with our local photographer and local piper from Skerryvore too. And our local friends who introduced us to the Island and the special cove we got married in. Couldn’t have asked for more.

It has been almost two weeks since our wedding and I can't stop thinking about it. Everything was so perfect, we couldn't have asked for a better day to celebrate our marriage. Catherine and Fiona were so helpful and patient, and always replied back to me promptly, which I am really greatful for. The ceremony felt so special and personal to us - Catherine did a fantastic job (especially as she had to compete with some very curious sheep!) and included everything we asked for. She was also more than happy to include my old teddy bear Pinky to be the official ring bear(er), which just added an extra perfect touch on the day. Pinky was most pleased to be included in such an important role and have such a big fuss made over her. Thank you again from the bottom of both our hearts for being a part of our special day.

Our elopement wedding was the perfect fairytale dream. I felt like a princess, and we got to do a whisky quaich and hand fasting. Could not have asked for more.

Thank you to Melanie for conducting our wonderful ceremony on the beach at Crear. We really enjoyed the handfasting element which made our ceremony feel extra special. The organisation/planning process was really straight forward and handled professionally by the Argyll and Bute Registrar team.

We had the most amazing wedding day; there are so many parts of our day that stood out to us, but our overall favourite part of the day was our ceremony. The location of our ceremony changed at the last minute due to wet weather and instead of being held outside in the courtyard of the hotel, was held in the main reception area. This provided an extremely intimate location where we were surrounded by our loved ones and the acoustics were great. Julie McLellan was our registrar and being a family friend, created the most personal ceremony that we could've had. She delivered the ceremony so eloquently and professionally on the day, but also had fantastic communication with both of us before the wedding regarding what we wanted out of our ceremony. We couldn't recommend Julie enough and will have these special memories from her wonderful ceremony forever. Thanks once again Julie

We were married in an outdoor ceremony at Castle House in Dunoon, and it was so special; all thanks to the collective efforts of the registry team in Dunoon and Argyll Weddings and Events. As we don't live in the area, our registrar Stephanie ensured there was communication at all times and made an effort to get to know us before the big day, to personalise our ceremony. We were able to tailor and proofread the ceremony beforehand, which allowed us to make it exactly what we wanted. As our ceremony was outdoors, we did worry that some of our guests may not be able to hear things clearly, but Stephanie spoke perfectly and our guests heard every word. We couldn't have been happier with the way things went! For the dressing of the venue we were recommended Linda from Argyll Weddings and Events, who liaised with the registry team to ensure our ceremony looked perfect. It was everything we wanted and more! All of our guests said they thought it was fab and they are still talking about the amazing time they had in Dunoon. Nothing was ever an issue in the run up to our big day and it went down perfectly! We followed our ceremony with dinner at Chatters restaurant, and then a ceilidh and disco at Dunoon Burgh Hall. Thank you again to Stephanie and the team in Dunoon - we loved every minute!

We'd like to give huge appreciation to The Isle of Bute for making our wedding day very special. We've been visiting Bute for years and as soon as we decided to elope it was the only place for us. Sandra and Samantha at Argyll and Bute Registrars supported us through the process with friendliness and ease from the beginning. They answered any questions quickly and encouraged us at each stage to have exactly what we wanted during the ceremony. We chose hand fasting, readings and songs that DJ Sandra organised for us. I didn't know a registry office could provide such an intimate, personal experience but this more than delivered, especially in its stunning surroundings - on top of a hill looking out over Rothesay and the sea. Planning our wedding was a little complicated as I was undergoing cancer treatment and didn't know what dates would work alongside appointments. Samantha and Sandra reassured us that things would be able to be rearranged if need be. Their consideration and support through planning made the whole experience peaceful and exciting, when it could have been stressful and daunting. We were able to organise everything on island, from my beautifully styled hair, Hair By Claire, stunning flowers, Flowers By Janine, and natural, care free photos by Paul Simpson. We also had an impromptu drink in Bute Yard who kindly gave us a goody bag full of merch and delicious gin. A few weeks after the wedding we even got a shout out on Bute Radio Station. Another highlight of all that the Isle of Bute, and its people, has to offer for important occasions. We are now celebrating being happily married and being cancer free. Thank you so much to everyone for making the day extra special. We are looking forward to returning to Bute to celebrate our one year anniversary in June 2024.

Myself and my husband were married on June 10th by Maria, Jane and Elaine. Maria conducted the most part of the ceremony with Elaine and Jane taking part and making our day special, as a friend and colleague. Maria wrote her own poem as part of the ceremony and it was incredible, so personal to us and we won’t forget it! As this was extra special as we are all colleagues, they were equally as professional and many of our guests commented on how amazing the girls were - they gave us exactly what we had asked for. The best wee team about, thank you girls.
