In August 2024, a first-of-its-kind report titled ‘The challenges faced by rural landlords: The case of Argyll and Bute’ was published. It was funded by Argyll and Bute Council and Citizens Advice Scotland, and project-managed by the local Citizens Advice Bureau. The report aimed to understand the position of landlords in rural areas.
Key recommendations for the Council included creating a Landlord Advice Hub on the Council website. The Council is working on this and other recommendations to help private landlords' experiences and keep them in the sector, to continue providing varied housing options for the people of Argyll and Bute.
