Renewal of Vows – Exchange of Rings or Gifts

Love

The exchange of rings is a tradition that has been practiced for many years but it is not a compulsory part of the ceremony.  Couples can also exchange gifts if they prefer or they do not need to exchange anything.

Example 1

This ring is a symbol of our marriage

and I ask you to wear it

as a lasting reminder

of my promises made to you

on our wedding day

Example 2

I give you this ring

as a symbol of my love

I promise to give you my love and friendship

to confide in you and comfort you

 to trust and support you

to be there when you need me most

always and forever.

Example 3

At this time, reconfirm the meaning of the rings you wear.

Please join your left hands together so that Party 1 hand is on top. Party 1 please repeat after me:

(Party 2) I wear this ring you placed on my hand

as a symbol of my love and commitment to you.

Now, with (Party 2’s) hand on top, (Party 2) please repeat after me:

(Party 1) I wear this ring you placed on my hand

as a symbol of my love and commitment to you.

Example 4

I give you this ring as a symbol

of my love and faithfulness.

As I place it on your finger,

I commit my heart and soul to you again

I ask you to wear this ring

as a continued reminder

of the vows we spoke on our wedding day
