The scheme is a £3.2 million partnership project, funded by:
- Historic Environment Scotland (£999,997);
- National Lottery Heritage Fund (£850,000);
- Argyll and Bute Council (£650,000); and,
- Property owners.
The project will run from 2026 - March 2031.
What will the project do?
Tarbert Heritage Scheme will deliver a co-ordinated programme of investment and activity, through:
- the offer of grant to owners of heritage properties;
- the provision of skills training, and heritage education opportunities; and
- encouraging community participation in a range of events designed to promote and celebrate Tarbert’s history.
The project focuses on Tarbert’s shopping core (highlighted by the yellow boundary).

Level of investment
A total of £1.45m will be offered in grant to support property owners make repairs to their historic buildings and shopfronts in Tarbert’s shopping core.
Long-term vision
Tarbert Heritage Scheme aims to:
- Improve the quality and availability of housing;
- Strengthen the local economy and tourism offer:
- Build resilience through skills and community capacity: and
- Ensure Tarbert’s historic environment is protected for future generations.
