Tarbert Heritage Scheme

Tarbert Heritage Scheme is a place-based regeneration programme focused on enhancing and celebrating Tarbert’s historic environment.

The scheme is a £3.2 million partnership project, funded by:

  • Historic Environment Scotland (£999,997); 
  • National Lottery Heritage Fund (£850,000); 
  • Argyll and Bute Council (£650,000); and, 
  • Property owners.

The project will run from 2026 - March 2031.

What will the project do?

Tarbert Heritage Scheme will deliver a co-ordinated programme of investment and activity, through:

  • the offer of grant to owners of heritage properties;
  • the provision of skills training, and heritage education opportunities; and
  • encouraging community participation in a range of events designed to promote and celebrate Tarbert’s history. 

The project focuses on Tarbert’s shopping core (highlighted by the yellow boundary).

Level of investment 

A total of £1.45m will be offered in grant to support property owners make repairs to their historic buildings and shopfronts in Tarbert’s shopping core.

Long-term vision

Tarbert Heritage Scheme aims to:

  • Improve the quality and availability of housing;
  • Strengthen the local economy and tourism offer:
  • Build resilience through skills and community capacity: and
  • Ensure Tarbert’s historic environment is protected for future generations.
