People in Mid Argyll are being asked to vote for one councillor in a by-election on Thursday 29 October.
If you want to vote in this election, you must be registered to vote in Ward 3, Mid Argyll, which includes the communities of Ardrishaig, Achahoish, Crinan, Tayvallich, Lochgilphead, Inveraray, Furnace, Kilmartin, Ford, Craignish, Kilmichael Glassary and Minard.
If you’re not sure whether you’re registered, you can check this with the Electoral Registration Office by calling 01586 555300, or emailing - they can send you out a registration form if you need one. You can also register online - it’s quick and easy to do. There’s still time to register if you want to vote in this election – the deadline is midnight on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
Once you’re registered, you also have choices about how you vote as well as who you vote for. You can vote by post or by proxy (where you appoint someone else to cast your vote on your behalf). For this election, the deadline for applying for a new postal or postal proxy vote, or making changes to existing ones, is 5pm on Wednesday 14 October. New proxy vote applications must be received by 5pm on Wednesday 21 October.
