Argyll and Bute Council has shared the first concept designs showing how the proposed new Tobermory Campus could look.
Developed by the project team and design partners, the early-stage designs provide an initial visual representation of how learning spaces, shared facilities and outdoor areas might look within the new campus setting. Engagement with pupils, staff and the community has shaped the concepts and are intended to demonstrate emerging ideas rather than final proposals.
The concept designs reflect feedback gathered through workshops, design charrettes, and discussions with the school community. They offer a first glimpse of the ambitions for a modern, flexible, and sustainable campus that could support learning, wellbeing and community use for generations to come.
Councillor Kieron Green said:
"It's exciting to be able to share these first concept designs with the community and give people an early idea of what the new Tobermory 2-18 Campus could look like.
"These designs are very much at the concept stage and do not necessarily represent the final campus. However, they help bring the project to life and show how the ideas, aspirations and feedback gathered through engagement so far are beginning to influence the emerging vision for the site.
"There is still a significant amount of design and technical work ahead, and the proposals will continue to evolve as the project progresses. That's why it's important that people view these images as an early indication of the possibilities rather than a finished design. Nevertheless, reaching this stage is an important milestone and an exciting step forward for the project."
The project remains in the early design phase, with further work continuing on site investigations, sustainability measures, building services design and other technical requirements needed to support the development of the Outline Business Case.
Councillors will consider an outline business case in December 2026.
A statutory education consultation will launch on 24 August, seeking views on the relocation of the existing High School to the preferred Tobermory South location.
