Council leader urges local businesses not to miss out on funding support

The Leader of Argyll and Bute Council is encouraging local businesses to find out about funding support before the deadline of 10 July.

The council has already secured more than £31 million of funding for local businesses, through the Scottish Government’s Business Support Fund.

Grants are available to match different business circumstances. Funding awarded to date has included grants ranging from £7,500 to £25,000.

The nationally-set deadline for applications has been moved from March 2021 to 10 July 2020.

Having listened to issues affecting a number of local businesses, the council has recently agreed a position with the Scottish Government which enables it to consider applications for additional grants from businesses that have multiple business premises entered onto the valuation roll by the Assessor as one entry.

Councillor Aileen Morton said:

“It’s important that local businesses get as much support as possible to move on from the impact of COVID-19.

We have put information on our website to make it easy to find out about grants available, and we have moved staff temporarily from their usual roles to focus on helping businesses access support.

There is still time to apply. I would encourage businesses affected by COVID-19 to find out about support available.”
