New film celebrates Campbeltown transformation

A new film celebrates the transformation of Campbeltown following investment of £13 million that has significantly improved the appearance and vibrancy of the town. The Campbeltown Regeneration project is shortlisted for the 2020 SURF Awards for ‘Scotland’s most improved place’

Argyll and Bute Council has produced the film as part of the judging process for the awards. The film can be viewed on the council’s website.

Councillor Alastair Redman, Policy Lead for Business, Regeneration and Commercial Development:

“The story of Campbeltown’s regeneration is captured perfectly in this film featuring local businesses and the community. There is a real buzz around the town with new businesses opening following the repair of over forty buildings and an extensive shopfront improvement scheme. The transformation along with improved community facilities is helping attract more people to live and work in the area.

Working together with partner organisations and the people of Campbeltown is delivering positive results. In such a challenging a year, it is heartening to see such positive signs of recovery for our local economy. ”

The 2020 SURF Award winners will be announced in February 2021 at a virtual Awards Dinner.
