Celebrating CARS funding

Films about the regeneration of Campbeltown.

A new film celebrating the transformation of Campbeltown has been produced by Argyll and Bute Council. The appearance and vibrancy of the town centre has been significantly improved with investment of £13 million leading to the town being shortlisted for the 2020 SURF Awards for ‘Scotland’s most improved place’.

To celebrate 10 years of CARS funding investment, Historic Environment Scotland has produced a series of short films featuring previous grant recipients.

Campbeltown has benefited from two Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes (CARS). Round 1 ran from 2007 to 2012 and Round 6 completed in 2020. The investment has revitalised Campbeltown’s historic town centre.
