Help with Deposits / rent in advance (exceptions)
A DHP can occasionally be considered to assist with a Rent Deposit or Rent in Advance when moving into a new Private Sector tenancy in the Argyll & Bute area, however the following schemes are operated by Argyll & Bute Council and must be pursued first:
Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme - This scheme provides deposit guarantees to private landlords on behalf of new tenants. You may be eligible if the following apply to your current situation:
- You are assessed by Argyll & Bute Council as ‘homeless’ or ‘threatened with homelessness’
- You are at risk of becoming ‘homeless’
- You are on a low income
Scottish Welfare Fund – Community Care Grant - This scheme provides qualifying applicants with help towards moving costs and can also assist with some items that are required to move into a new property.
