Kirn Primary School
Kirn Primary is a non-denominational school situated in Ardenslate Housing Area. The original building dates back to 1881. We are presently temporarily housed in Dunoon Grammar School while the new Kirn School is being built. We hope to move into our new school in October 2017.
Our roll is presently around 260 pupils with a 20/20 place Early Learning and Child Care classroom. Our Curriculum is based on the principles outlined within ‘Curriculum for Excellence’. We strive to provide our pupils with opportunities to become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors. We do this by ensuring the curriculum is relevant and reflects our environment, our pupils have opportunities for leadership and staff plan carefully to ensure all pupils are supported. We reflect on our practice to ensure ongoing improvement.
Kirn PS is at the heart of the Kirn Community and we grasp any opportunity to work in partnership with the local community. We look forward to developing our new school grounds and garden with the help and guidance of our community. We benefit from local volunteers supporting our pupils in their learning and look forward to develop this further.
In Kirn PS we try to make every minute count as we strive to give our pupils the best educational experience possible.
HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspects and reports on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development services, colleges, and residential educational provision.
You can read and download any inspection reports for this school, and find out more about the inspection process, on the Education Scotland website.
