Jura ferry - no further sailings today

Jura - Recycling Collections 09/12/25

Due to todays forecasted weather, we will not be carrying out the planned collection of Recycling waste on Jura today. We will provide an update as soon as this collection has been rescheduled. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Cuan ferry - service disruptions

Due to strong winds the Cuan ferry service will run until 1500, 1505 then service will be cancelled for the rest of the day. We would advise not to send children to school. Disruptions are likely

All ferry routes are liable to delays/suspension at short notice on Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th December 2025

Cuan, Easdale, Lismore and Jura ferries may be subject to delays/suspension at short notice on Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th December 2025 due to high winds. Please check with individual routes for updates.

East Princes Street, Helensburgh - traffic lights

We are aware of a fault with the traffic lights at East Princes Street. The contractor has been contacted and will be attending to carry out the repair 

Mid Argyll - Recycling awkward access route - 04/12/25 UPDATED

Due to a breakdown of our awkward access vehicle, some recycling areas will not be collected on 4th December 2025. 

UPDATE 05/12/25 - This collection will now take place on Tuesday 9th December.

Streetlighting Issues - Dunoon - SSE Works

The streetlighting on the following streets has been affected by ongoing SSE works

  • Royal Crescent
  • Victoria Road
  • John Street
  • Hanover Street

They are working to restore lighting in the area asap

Limited Access Recycling -Cardross/Arden 28/11/25 UPDATED

Due to a vehicle breakdown, Limited Access Recycling collections in Cardross and Arden due on Friday 28th November could not take place. 

UPDATE 02/12/25: Please leave your bins out to allow us to catch up on these missed collections by the end of this week.

EV Charging Network - Faults - 02.12.2025

Electric Vehicle Charger Faults

We have some faults across our network of 37 EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.

The faults and some details are listed below. You can see the full range of publicly available chargers in Argyll and Bute (not just those operated by the Council) on the Charge Place Scotland website.

  • 53517 Tiree Ferry Terminal – Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
  • 53518 Community Centre, Coll - Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit. Unfortunately, there are no other Council chargers at this site, but all public chargers can be found via the Charge Place Scotland website using the link above.
  • 51510 Tweeddale Street, Oban - Charger has come to the  end of its lifecycle, and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  There is another charger at this location
  • 51137 Inveraray - Charger has come to the end of its lifespan and it is not economical to continue to try to maintain it, we are looking at the best route to replace it with new unit.  There is an alternative charger at this location all public EVCs can be found via Charge Place Scotland website.
  • 52304 Bank Street, Bowmore - internal communication error on B Side, CPS are aware and are arranging an engineer, the date will be confirmed ASAP.   There is another charger at this location and all public EVCs can be found via Charge Place Scotland website.

Refuse collection - Lismore

Due to vehicle issues, we were unable to collect waste due on 1st December from Lismore. We will update this page with details of when the missed bins will now be collected. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Closed to all through traffic due to rock falls at Gribun Rocks.

Diversion via A849 Kinloch - Craignure - Salen 

Temporary closure - Tiree Customer Service Point

Tiree Customer Service Point will be temporarily closed from Monday 18th of August as the Service Point officer has taken up a different post within Social Care. We apologise for any inconvenience. Telephone and online services are available. 

The Service Point Office at Crossapol continues to be used by Social Care and limited facilities remain there mornings only to make face to face payments and Blue Badge and cemetery/lair enquiries.
