Domestic & Commercial recycling collections - Gigha 28/08/26
We have been unable to collect domestic and commercial recycling due on Gigha today, 28th August due the ferry breakdown.
These collections will now take place on Saturday 29th August.
Household glass collections - Helensburgh & surrounding areas w/c 24/08/26
Due to vehicle breakdowns and operational issues, we have been unable to complete household glass collections scheduled between Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August.
Unfortunately these collections have been cancelled until residents' next scheduled collection date.
Please return your bins to your property. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Rothesay Customer Service Point closed Monday 31st August
Rothesay Customer Service Point will be closed on Monday 31st August and will reopen on Tuesday 1st September at 9am. Telephone and online services will still be available.
Recycling collections - Tobermory and Bunessan UPDATE 27/08/26
Due to an ongoing vehicle issue, recycling collections due on 24th August in Tobermory and 25th August in Bunessan have been cancelled
UPDATE 27/08/26 - Both recycling collections will now take place on Friday 28th August.

Refuse collections - Isle of Coll UPDATE
Refuse collections on Coll will now take place on Saturday, 29 August. Excess waste will be collected if left bagged next to your general waste bin.
Recycling from Middle Pier will also be collected by the skip lorry.

Bogleha Recycling Centre, Dunoon - Potential disruptions
Resurfacing works are being carried out at Bogleha from Tuesday 25th August and are expected to last 2-3 days.
All efforts will be made to keep access to the site. There may be some periods where the site will require to be closed, however, these will be kept to a minimum.
General waste collections - Islay 24/08/26
Due to technical issues, general waste collections due on Islay today, Monday 24th August will not be carried out.
These collections have been rescheduled to take place on Friday 28th August.
We ask that residents take their bins in today and place them out for the rescheduled collection date.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Commercial General Waste Collections - Islay
Due to the ongoing technical issue with one of our refuse collection vehicles, we are currently operating with only one vehicle.
As a result, commercial general waste collections that were due to take place on Thursday 20th August will now be carried out from Monday 24th August onwards while we work to clear the backlog of missed premises.

Cliad Recycling Centre, Coll

Road Closure B8016 - commencing 9th March 2026
Scottish Water will be undertaking a watermain upgrade along the B8016 at the River Laggan Road Bridge. Work is scheduled to begin on the 9th of March 2026 and is expected to take approximately three months to complete.
Due to the nature and location of the works, a section of B8016 will be fully closed throughout the duration of the project.
Green bin collections - Serpentine Road and Mountpleasant Road, Rothesay
Green bins on Serpentine Road and Mountpleasant Road will be collected a day later than the published schedule going forward, with uplifts taking place on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays.
We hope to have the bin collection calendars on our website updated soon to reflect this change.
Road and Footway Closure - East Clyde Street, Helensburgh
The Council is making arrangements for the diversions below to be put in place and for ‘Business as usual’ signs to be put up to support businesses in the street affected.

EV Charging Network - Faults - 17th June 2026
Electric Vehicle Charger Faults
We have some faults across our network of EV chargers at the moment. We are working with our maintenance contractors to have these repaired as soon as possible.

Due to subsidence on a section of Ardencraig Road, a temporary closure has been put in place.
An update will be provided once a full assessment has taken place.

A83 Lochnell Street, Lochgilphead - open under traffic signal control
The A83 Lochnell Street re-opened this afternoon (24 December) under traffic signal control.
Parking restrictions on Lorne Street, Union Street and Manse Brae have now been revoked.
