Book now for the fifth Gaelic Gathering

Argyll and Bute Council is looking forward to welcoming people to this year’s Gaelic Gathering which takes place in the Corran Halls, Oban, May 15.

Tickets and more information about the event are available from https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1984962571485?aff=oddtdtcreator

Funded by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the Gaelic Gathering provides an opportunity for organisations, community groups, and individuals to meet with national organisations and share ideas on how they can work in partnership to help grow the Gaelic language in our communities.

The event will cover topics from organisations across Argyll and Bute and Scotland. They include Gaelic in business, culture and communities, areas of linguistic significance and Gaelic resources for families.

Councillor Luna Martin, Policy Lead for Gaelic said:

“We’re really looking forward to bringing everyone together  for our fifth Gaelic Gathering. This popular event is open to anyone with an interest in promoting the language and culture.

Gaelic plays an important part in the history of Argyll and Bute, and we are committed to doing what we can to ensure its long-term future. It is in all our interests to help it flourish.

The Gaelic Gathering promises to be a great event. Come along and hear what the council and our partners are doing to promote both the language and culture.”

Holding a Gaelic Gathering every two years is part of the Argyll and Bute Council’s Gaelic Language Plan – a plan created by the council to get more people to learn and speak the language, and make the most of the economic benefits that it brings.

Organisations taking part include, Argyll and Bute Council, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, CHARTS, Salen Gaelic Centre, Oban Mòd Local Committee, Islay Gaelic Centre, and Comann nam Pàrant.
