Zulu Squadron visits Oban

Anyone in Oban this Saturday (13 June) should head to the town centre at around 1.15pm when mariners from the Royal Navy’s Zulu Squadron will march from Station Square to North Pier car park.

Depute Provost, Councillor Jan Brown, the Armed Forces and Veterans Champion, Councillor William Sinclair, and Lt Commander Alex Coleman will take the salute during the march past.

During the march, members of Oban High School pipe band will accompany Zulu Squadron.

Zulu Squadron provides underwater security and mine/seabed warfare in UK internal and territorial waters. While in Oban, RNMB HEBE will be moored at the North Pier Pontoons and open to visitors on both Saturday morning and afternoon.

Councillor William Sinclair said: “It is a great honour to welcome Zulu Squadron to Argyll and Bute and I am thrilled to be taking the salute along with the Depute Provost and Commanding Officer.

“Argyll and Bute is proud of its links to the wider armed forces, through its connections with HMNB Clyde, and its commitment to supporting veterans and their families returning to civilian life. We thank you for your service and we hope the squadron enjoys its visit to Oban.”
