Key milestone as Tobermory Campus plans move to public consultation

A statutory public consultation will seek views on relocating the current Tobermory 2-18 Campus to a new purpose-built 2-18 campus school building.

Councillors today approved plans to launch a statutory consultation in terms of the Schools  (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010, which will run from 24 August to 2 October 2026. As part of the consultation plans, dedicated sessions will take place with pupils across the affected schools to ensure children and young people’s views are fully captured as part of the decision-making process. In addition, a public meeting will take place s to give the community an opportunity to hear more about the proposal, ask questions and share their views.

Councillor Kieron Green, Policy Lead for Education, said:

“The Committee’s decision to proceed to consultation is an important step in shaping the future of education in Tobermory. This proposal offers the opportunity to create a modern, purpose-built campus that will significantly improve the learning environment for our children and young people.

“We are committed to listening closely to the views of our communities, including pupils, parents, staff and local residents. I would encourage everyone with an interest in the future of Tobermory Campus to take part in the consultation and share their views.”

The council will publish full details of the consultation, including the proposal paper and how to respond, on its website ahead of the start date.
