Registrars across Argyll and Bute carried out 484 marriages and 33 civil partnerships in 2025, and the strong demand shows no sign of easing, with 404 ceremonies already booked in this year.
On top of this, the team also conducted four vow renewals, one naming ceremony and 36 citizenship ceremonies. Campbeltown registrars can now carry out funeral services too, and last year they conducted 24.
The team’s professionalism and commitment was also recognised nationally, with Argyll and Bute’s registrars named finalists in the 2026 Confetti Wedding Awards, and over the past year 190 service users completed a satisfaction survey and gave a 100% satisfaction rating.
Argyll and Bute Council’s Policy Lead for Community Planning and Corporate Services, Councillor William Sinclair, said:
“It’s no secret that Argyll and Bute is full of spectacular places to celebrate life’s milestones, and our registrars go above and beyond to ensure each ceremony feels unique and meaningful. It’s clear why this area remains such a popular choice for couples and our registrars make a huge contribution to the local wedding economy.”
