Love Local Gift Card generates almost £1 million

The Love Local Argyll and Bute Gift Card scheme has help to generate almost £1 million within the Argyll and Bute economy since its launch in 2021.

The Council introduced the scheme as part of its COVID-19 economic recovery plan, to support local businesses, boost local spending, and provide a secure, community-based way to deliver targeted public funding, including cost-of-living assistance.

At a meeting of the Council’s Policy and Resources Committee, councillors heard how the scheme has helped to enable more than £939,000 spend and secured the participation of more than 350 local businesses.

The Love Local Argyll and Bute Gift Card will run until October 2027, so there is still plenty of time for people to enjoy a range of fantastic local products, services and experiences on offer from across the area.

The Council’s Policy Lead for Business Development, Councillor Math Campbell-Sturgess, said:

“The Love Local Argyll and Bute Gift Card scheme has made a real difference to our local economy. It shows how practical, community-based initiatives can support businesses, encourage local spending, and deliver targeted assistance where it’s needed most.

“By choosing a Love Local Argyll and Bute Gift Card, you’re helping keep money in our communities, supporting local jobs, and strengthening the businesses that make Argyll and Bute unique. It’s an easy way for everyone to play a part in building a stronger local economy.”
