As we approach the festive season, I am reminded once again of what makes Argyll and Bute such a special place to live and work – our people and our communities. The warmth, resilience, and generosity I see across the area never fail to inspire me.
This year has brought its own challenges, but it has also shown the strength of our amazing community spirit. Time and again, I have witnessed neighbours supporting one another, volunteers giving freely of their time, and local groups working tirelessly to make life better for others. These acts of kindness – big and small – are the heartbeat of Argyll and Bute.
The council provides essential services, and this will continue over the festive period through the efforts of our hardworking staff. But we know that real success comes when we work together – council, communities, businesses, and individuals – to make Argyll and Bute a place where everyone can thrive.
As we celebrate Christmas, let us also remember those for whom this season could be difficult for various reasons. If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out. Help is available through Sources of Support | Argyll and Bute Council and NHS Inform, offering advice on financial and mental health concerns.
To all those working and volunteering over the festive period, thank you. Your commitment ensures that our communities are cared for, even when many of us are enjoying time with family and friends. Your efforts make a real difference.
Looking ahead to 2026, there is much to be hopeful for. Together, we can continue to build strong, vibrant communities across Argyll and Bute.
On behalf of the council, I wish you peace, joy, and happiness this Christmas, and my very best wishes for the New Year.
