A peer-led support project across five secondary schools in Argyll and Bute is helping to remove the stigma around period products and ensure everyone can access products in school, in their community and online.
Argyll and Bute Council has developed the My Tribe Champions programme, providing training to five pilot secondary schools on how to access products and information. The aim is for the champions to tackle stigma and improve access to period products amongst young people.
In Argyll and Bute free period products are available in schools, through the council’s My Tribe initiative in over 150 community locations, and online at MyTribe - Free period products (mytribeargyll.co.uk)
My Tribe, funded by the Scottish Government, aims to help raise awareness of the availability of free products in Argyll and Bute and break down barriers around talking about periods.
