Argyll and Bute Council has hailed the latest title triumph for one of Scotland’s most-travelled brass bands.
Campbeltown Brass has won the titles of both Scottish and British Brass Band Champions 2022.
The band is well known across the Kintyre community, play at events throughout Argyll and Bute and have previously entertained crowds at a number of Six Nations rugby tournaments.
Most of the band’s musicians are still at school and, as well as hours of practice, the members clock up hundreds of miles each year travelling to competitions across the UK from their Campbeltown base.
Argyll and Bute Provost Councillor Maurice Corry is to send a letter of congratulations to the band, on behalf of the council, in recognition of their achievements this year.
Provost Corry said:
“Beating competition from across Scotland and Britain is a fantastic achievement. Campbeltown Brass’s success is a reminder that we have extremely talented people here in Argyll and Bute.
It takes more than talent of course to become champions, it takes hard work and dedication too. Our warmest congratulations go to the musicians and everyone who supports the Band. You should all be very proud.”
