Funding boost for Lochgilphead Front Green

The £1.5 million transformation of Lochgilphead’s Front Green is progressing well and nearing the planned completion date.

Argyll and Bute Council is delivering the long held community aspiration of a new public square to hold events in. The works also include a new play park, additional seating, drainage and landscaping to help ease the impact of flooding and new walking and cycling facilities.

To complement the improvement works, Argyll and Bute Council has secured additional Scottish Government Town Centre funding to upgrade the footpath and railings along the front of the Green and in front of the toilet block.  Local Achnaba stone will be used on the footpath.

Work starts on 8 March and is likely to take ten working days completing on 21 March. To allow the works to take place safely, traffic lights will be in place and the footpath closed during this time.

The public toilets will remain open throughout the period of works.

Final works to the Front Green include tree planting, grass laying, installing safety flooring and fencing around the play park, and completing the last of the Square paving.

The Front Green will open in spring 2022.
