To help keep spending local, support businesses and protect jobs, businesses across Argyll and Bute are being encouraged to give their backing to the successful Scotland Loves Local card scheme.
The council is now looking for Business Ambassadors to sign up to showcase their business and help promote the Argyll and Bute card scheme to an even wider audience. Whether already registered to accept the card or still to sign up, businesses can join the marketing campaign to spread the word about the initiative. There are over 100 businesses currently signed up across Argyll and Bute to accept the cards. They include restaurants, hotels and gift shops, outdoor activity providers and tourist attractions.
As part of the marketing campaign, business ambassadors will feature in a short promotional film to help raise awareness of the card and their own business. Guidance on how to run simple online campaigns will also be available to local businesses.
To register interest in becoming an Ambassador, businesses should contact Investinargyll@argyll-bute.gov.uk by 5pm on Friday 12 August 2022.
The Argyll and Bute Card is part of the wider Scotland Loves Local campaign to encourage people to spend in their own area to help the region’s businesses and support local employment. The cards are available to buy from https://scotlandgiftslocal.com/product/argyll-bute-gift-card and businesses can register to accept the card at www.lovelocal.scot/giftcard.
Councillor Robin Currie, Policy Lead for the Economy and Rural Growth, said: “We’re continually exploring ways to boost the local economy and assist our communities in recovering from the impact of the pandemic.
“The Argyll and Bute card is a terrific initiative which gives us all the opportunity to support our fantastic businesses by spending locally.
“The response from companies of all sizes and sectors across Argyll and Bute has been extremely encouraging and we’re keen to sign up as many Business Ambassadors as possible. This will not only help to further boost the success of the gift card and support new jobs but it’s also a great opportunity to showcase the area and the great local businesses we have to offer.”
