A free lime mortar course is taking place at Hermitage Park Helensburgh from 28 September to 1 October. The course, delivered by the Scottish Lime Centre Trust, is open to anyone with an interest in traditional skills, building conservation or maintaining their property.
Lime mortar is more sympathetic to older buildings than cement based mortar. It is breathable and flexible with a lower carbon footprint than modern cement mortars.
Argyll and Bute Council in partnership with the Friends of Hermitage Park is running the course as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund improvements to Hermitage Park.
There will be opportunities to help volunteer with future supervised lime mortar maintenance in the Park.
If you are interested in attending the free course, contact Hermitage Park Manager Charlie Cairns at charlie.cairns@argyll-bute.gov.uk or on 01436 658859. Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The course will be run in accordance with current Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance.
