Specialist contractors are on site and work is well underway on the £200,000 project to upgrade the lighting, including additional performance lighting, around Dunoon bandstand.
With completion just a few weeks away, ducts are in place and the lighting columns and cabling will installed by the end of this week.
The next step will be to put finishing touches to the blockwork paving, including power washing and spraying for weeds.
Work on the colour-selectable lighting for Castle Gardens will start on 31 August.
Once complete the Bandstand will provide a focal point for outdoor performances in Dunoon, that offers an enhanced set-up for musicians playing there, with an on-site PA system and upgraded electrical supplies.
Councillor Alastair Redman, Policy Lead for Economic Growth, said: “COVID-19 paused so much over the past few months, but I’m delighted that this project is now progressing so quickly.
“We have so much creative talent in Argyll and Bute it’s great to be able to provide the facilities to showcase it as the events sector gets moving again, in line with the Scottish Government’s road map to recovery. Now, in Dunoon, there is the choice of the refurbished Queen’s Hall for large-scale events, as well as the Bandstand for less formal performances, and Dunoon Burgh Hall as a cultural hub.
“This is yet another dimension to the fantastic regeneration work going on in Dunoon, making it a great place to live, work and visit.
The audio and lighting project was made possible through funding from the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund.
