R is for Regeneration.
Colin Fulcher is the Project Officer for Rothesay Townscape Heritage.
“Having been born and raised in Rothesay, as the Project Officer for Rothesay Townscape Heritage, it gives me a great sense of pride to be managing a project that is helping to make an improved and lasting difference to the town centre," he said.
"My job involves initiating, developing and implementing projects from inception to completion, all with a goal of regenerating the town centre.
These projects include the restoration of our historic building, The Winter Gardens. Improving tenement buildings and shops in Victoria Street, Argyle Street and Montague Street. Working closely with the property owners, architects and contractors, it is very rewarding to see the difference my job makes to the buildings I grew up around.
We also look to improve the long term approach to property maintenance by encouraging people to get involved in maintenance workshops and other cultural heritage activities.
Rothesay TH, is jointly funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Environment Scotland, HIE and Argyll and Bute Council.”
