Better journeys

Our Better Journeys campaign is all about making small changes, where you can, when you can, that lead to big differences for you, your purse and the planet.

We're all out and about, travelling in different ways to get where we need to go. A lot of us are doing what we can to reduce our carbon footprint and create a climate friendly Argyll and Bute. We're asking you to play your part and get involved in our new campaign.

Small changes make big differences

Mix and match for better journeys

Walking, wheeling, cycling, getting the bus or using other shared transport can benefit you by making journeys more social and boost your wellbeing. There are lots of ways that part of your total journey could be done more actively, and with a lower environmental impact. Here are some ideas for you to try:

  • Choose to walk to the shops once a week rather than drive
  • Arrange to lift share to work
  • Sit back, relax and take in the views on the bus
  • Try parking somewhere further away from your destination to cut vehicle miles and get a walk
  • Make it a family affair and cycle to school or the local park

What are we doing to make better journeys?

Working with partners and our communities, Argyll and Bute Council is working hard to improve and expand walking and cycling routes (active travel).  You can find out more about our current project on our Active Travel page.

The Better Journeys campaign is funded by Transport Scotland through the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places (SCSP) Fund and Argyll and Bute Council.
