NHS Highland has teamed up with PHIO to provide an additional service for anyone suffering from muscle or joint pains. PHIO does not replace our NHS face-to-face physiotherapy services but it is designed to work alongside, complement and support them

PHIO is a digital product that quickly and accurately directs people to the right care and support for their musculoskeletal condition. It provides self-management programmes with in-app clinical support from a qualified physiotherapist for those patients who are assessed as suitable. In other cases, the user may be directed to face-to-face appointment with a GP or physiotherapist

By providing an additional, simple and convenient route to accessing care, PHIO helps reduce GP workload, releases capacity in physiotherapy services, and reduces the number of people on waiting lists. For those who need to wait for face-to-face care, it supports self-management during the waiting period so their condition does not deteriorate further.
