Play sufficiency assessment

The Council is carrying out a Play Sufficiency Assessment (PSA) which is required as part of the Evidence Report for the next Local Development Plan (LDP3).

Play allows children and young people to explore the world around them with outdoor play providing health, wellbeing, developmental and educational benefits.

The Play Sufficiency Assessment (PSA) will assess outdoor play opportunities for children and this includes formal playparks and other informal outdoor places such as beaches, woodlands or sports pitches.

To help with this assessment we are carrying out two surveys, one aimed at children (anyone under 18 years old) and one aimed at parents, carers and other adults. You can find links to both surveys below.

Our PSA covers all of Argyll and Bute except for the area in the National Park. This is because Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority is responsible for the Local Development Plan and the PSA for the National Park. If you live within the National Park then there is no need to complete the survey. To help, you can find a map showing the parts of Argyll and Bute in the National Park here.

The surveys will be open from 16th March to 13th April 2026.

You can take part in the surveys online here:
