Place Standard Tool

How the Place Standard Tool works

We will ask you to pick a place to carry out the Place Standard Tool for from a list. To find a settlement simply start to type the name into the box and the list will refine itself as you continue to type. Just click or tap on the name once you can see it in the list.

You can fill out a survey for as many places as you wish, these could be the place you live, the place you work or like to visit.

For each of the 14 themes the tool uses a 1 to 7 scoring system, where 1 means there is a lot of room for improvement and 7 means there is very little improvement.

By scoring each theme out of 7 the results can be plotted on a spider diagram. The diagram that is produced is easy to understand. It shows at a glance the areas where a place is performing well and where there is room for improvement.

For each theme the tool also asks:

  • What is good now?
  • How could we make it better in the future?

These additional questions are optional but give you the chance to give us the thinking behind your scores.
