Argyll and Bute Council is looking for views on proposed designs to help identify the best options for the new active travel route.
Local communities can share their views in an online survey https://tinyurl.com/LochgilpheadCrinanCanal. There is also an opportunity to find out more information at a drop-in event on Thursday 9th February, Lochgilphead Baptist Church, 3.30-7.30pm.
The aim of the active travel route is to:
- Increase the number of people travelling actively more often for everyday journeys through a Sustrans supported concept design
- Improve community links between Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig
- Enhance public awareness of safety for all cyclists traveling between Lochgilphead and the Crinan Canal
- Increase the numbers of people cycling, walking and wheeling to school
- Create a better gateway environment into Lochgilphead
Councillor Andrew Kain, Policy Lead for Roads and Transport, said: “Delivering active travel routes which offer our communities better opportunities for safe cycling and walking is a key element of our commitment to creating a healthy, climate friendly environment in Argyll and Bute.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to offer their views on these proposals which will further support our efforts to lower our carbon footprint and provide a safe alternative to car travel.”
Argyll and Bute Council has appointed consultants Stantec to identify the best option for an active travel route.
The project is funded by the Scottish Government’s Places for Everyone programme, administered by Sustrans.
