Chief Executive pays tribute to our volunteers

Argyll and Bute has fantastic volunteers who make life better, even possible, for people in need. Responding to the coronavirus has brought that fact into sharp focus.

From delivering food and medicine, to providing emotional support, hundreds of people across the area are generously giving their time, attention and hard work to help others.

This is Volunteer Week, so a great opportunity to pay tribute to this amazing community spirit.

I would love to name everyone who is playing a part in improving life through volunteering, whether in response to the pandemic or in other circumstances.

That is difficult however given community spirit is such a strong characteristic of life in Argyll and Bute, and how many people deserve recognition.

Instead therefore, we have tried to pay regular tribute to volunteers through information we issue on our social media channels, in Volunteer Week we will do more to highlight how people across Argyll and Bute are going the extra mile to help strangers, neighbours and friends; and after the Week has passed, we will keep on recognising valued volunteering efforts.

To all volunteers, I would like to say thank you so much – your kindness towards others supports and improves our communities through the best and worst of times.
