The council’s budget provides for a huge range of services. Schools, roads, social care, toilets, economic growth, leisure, customer service, environmental health, planning, local employment, refuse collection, transport…just some of the services the council budget funds.
And Argyll and Bute needs some significant services from its council that most other councils do not provide, namely air and sea transport services.
Council tax makes a small but vital contribution to the council services we all use every day:
- 80% of council funding comes from the Scottish Government
- 20% from council tax and fees and charges.
Here are some short videos that show more about how your council tax is at work for you every day. We will bring more information in the weeks ahead.
