The objectives underpinning Scottish Government policy have the community at the centre. The national objective of achieving “safer and stronger communities” is expressed in the National Performance Framework in terms of the following National Outcomes:

A safer and stronger Scotland

  • We live our lives safe from crime, disorder and danger
  • We have strong, resilient and supportive communities where people take responsibility for their own actions and how they affect others
  • We live in well designed, sustainable places where we are able to access the amenities and services we need

The Scottish Government identifies eight Justice Outcomes and related priorities within the Strategy for Justice, against which progress is to be measured.  The ones most relevant to the Criminal Justice Social Work (CJSW) are:

  • We live in safe, cohesive and resilient communities
  • Prevention and early intervention improve wellbeing and life chances
  • Our system and interventions are proportionate, fair and effective
  • We deliver person-centred, modern and affordable public services

CJSW has implemented a Planning and Performance Improvement Framework to be able to evidence and report progress against these priorities.

The CJSW Strategy Map details the CJSW outcomes and objectives for 2017/20.

Performance will be measured in terms of our strategic objectives and reported via a Balanced Scorecard.
