In Ward 8 – Isle of Bute, Liz McCabe (Independent) was elected at Stage 5, by single transferrable vote. The percentage poll was 42.4%.
Ward 11 - Helensburgh and Lomond South
In Ward 11 – Helensburgh and Lomond South, Gemma Penfold (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) was elected at Stage 1, by single transferrable vote. The percentage poll was 41.8%.

ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS
Due to vacancies arising by the sad passing of two Councillors, by-elections are to be held to elect two councillors, one each to the Isle of Bute and the Helensburgh and Lomond South multi-member wards of Argyll and Bute Council.
The Returning Officer has determined that polling should take place on Thursday 18 March 2021

Covid-19 Safety at Polling Stations
The Returning Officer has made her determination in reliance on section 70 of the Coronavirus Act 2020 which allows an election to be fixed to take place on a date beyond the deadline fixed by section 37 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, and to be postponed once fixed. Before making her determination the Returning Officer consulted the Convener of the Electoral Management Board for Scotland, the Scottish Ministers and the Electoral Commission.
The Returning Officer has the power to substitute a fresh date or dates for polling to take place up to but not after 6 May 2021. She will keep her determination under review in light of developing and changing circumstances and will publish a further notice in the event that the polling date is to be changed.
The Notice of Election has now been published on Monday 8 February 2021. The period for nominations will run from, and include Tuesday 9 February 2021 until Monday 15 February 2021 at 4.00pm.
Voters may wish to consider applying for an absent vote which means voting by post or by proxy (someone voting for them). For a polling date of 18 March 2020, the following deadlines apply for registration and voting:-
- Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Kilbrannan House, Bolgam Street, Campbeltown PA28 6HZ by 12 midnight on Tuesday 2 March 2021. Applications can be made online at: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
- New applications, amendments or cancellations of postal or proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 3 March 2021.
- Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 10 March 2021.
- Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of a medical emergency that will prevent a voter from going to the polling station or for work/service/coronavirus reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday 18 March 2021.
