What we asked
The main purpose of the consultation was to ascertain:
Argyll and Bute Council launched the Housing need and demand assessment household survey to learn more about the housing needs and future aspirations of local households. The purpose of the survey was to allow the Council to better understand the housing circumstances and needs of local households so that a good range of housing options can be delivered in the future.
What the response was:
The survey received a total of 3,299 responses. The majority (2,071) were achieved through face-to-face interviews and further 456 interviews were completed by telephone. An online survey was also open to all Argyll & Bute residents to supplement the telephone and face to face survey. A total of 772 online responses were achieved across the Argyll and Bute local authority area.
What was decided as a result of the response:
The survey will help the Council plan for new housing and housing services, making sure the need of all residents and communities are met. The collated results will feed into the updated Housing Need and Demand Assessment that is going to be submitted to the Scottish Government in the spring of 2026 for review and will be published once they have approved.
