What the response was
There was a total of 822 responses, and the headline response was:
- The majority said no to a charge for a second green general waste bin
- Respondents agreed overall with the current criteria for households having a second green bin
- The majority agreed with the council checking every two years about whether households still required their second green bin
- While some respondents saw replacing two green bins with one larger bin as a good idea, there was a higher level of concern around storage issues of a larger bin, and the weight of a larger bin being too much for people to manage.
What was decided as a result of the response:
Households that qualify for an additional green general waste bin will still receive them free of charge. The Council will check every two years to see if they are still needed and, if not, they will no longer be collected and emptied.
