United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)

The United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme offers a safe and legal route to the UK for vulnerable refugees identified by the UNHCR and in need of protection, providing a humanitarian pathway to settlement.

UKRS arrivals have access to public funds, indefinite Leave to Remain and can apply for citizenship after 5 years. 

Their transition to Argyll and Bute is supported by the Home Office, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Council's Resettlement Team.

The United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) was announced by the Home Secretary on 17 June 2019, and is the successor to the following scheme  - Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme
