What will happen after my visa expires?
A new visa scheme called the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme launched on February 4, 2025 which allows Ukraine Schemes visa holders, including Homes for Ukraine, to apply for an additional 18 months’ leave in the 28 day period before their current 3-year visa expires. In early September 2025, the UK Government announced a further 24-month extension to the program, details of which will be published later.
I have friends/relatives in Ukraine who want to come to the UK, can you help?
Unfortunately, we are unable to help friends and relatives gain visas to the UK or find them hosts. The Homes for Ukraine scheme is still available to those who have a private sponsor. How do I apply for social housing?
To apply for social housing in Argyll and Bute you must fill out an online application form through the HomeArgyll system, once the application has been processed you will be allocated points and added to a waiting list according to your point allocation and will be offered housing when you reach the top of the list and a property fitting your stated preferences becomes available. When applying for social housing it is important to remember that bedroom allocation will vary depending on the size and composition of the household applying. Can I drive in the UK with my Ukrainian license?
If you are a Ukrainian national living in Great Britain (GB) on a Ukraine visa scheme and you hold a Ukrainian driving licence, you:
- can drive in GB
- do not need to exchange your Ukrainian licence for a GB licence
The length of time you can continue to drive in GB depends on when you successfully applied for entry clearance or permission to stay in the United Kingdom.
