Helensburgh Outdoor Museum Community Competition - Privacy Statement

A new data protection law was introduced on 25th May 2018. As a result, we've updated our Privacy Notice to make it easier for you to find out how we use, process and protect your information.

What information do we need? 

Argyll and Bute Council will act as the ‘Data Controller’ for the personal data you provide to us. The Data Protection Officer, who is responsible for ensuring personal data is managed in accordance with data protection legislation, can be contacted as follows:

The information we collect from you will include details such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number. 

Why we need this information?

Your information is being collected to provide Argyll and Bute Council, who are responsible for the Helensburgh Outdoor Museum, with information to allow them to contact you about your competition entry.

We need to know this personal data to contact you regarding the outcome of the competition. We will not collect any personal data from you that is not needed for the delivery of this service.

The lawful basis for collecting your information in these circumstances is:

  • Article 6(1)(a) – Consent – you are consenting to the processing of your personal information through submission of the competition entry.

What we will do with your information?

In order to provide this service to you, we will share your information with the organisations listed below for the purposes specified. 

  1. The Helensburgh Outdoor Museum Design Panel who will be assessing competition entries.  The Design Panel is made up of the Chair and Vice Chair of Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee, as well as representatives from local organisations and the community with expertise in the arts, culture and heritage.
  2. The artist who is appointed to deliver the project will be given contact information for the competition winner.

From the point of your competition entry being made, Argyll and Bute Council will retain the information provided on your entry form for the purposes of determining the competition winner and making contact with you in this regard. We will use your information to acknowledge receipt of your entry, to contact you about the outcome of the competition and share the name and organisation (if applicable) of the competition winner publicly. 

You should be aware that your data will be stored on servers located within the United Kingdom. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is kept secure and more information on how we do this can be provided by contacting the Data Protection Officer (contact details can be found above).

How long will we keep your information?

We will keep your information for 3 months following completion of the project after which it will be destroyed under secure arrangements. However the name and organisation (if applicable) of the winner will be shared publicly.

Your Rights

When you provide information to the Council, you will have the following rights:

  • to withdraw consent at any time, where the legal basis specified above is consent
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (see details below)
  • to request access to your personal data
  • to data portability, where the Legal basis specified above is i) consent or ii) performance of a contract
  • to request rectification or erasure of your personal data, as far as the legislation permits
