Live Argyll are now responsible for various services previously operated by Argyll and Bute Council including:

• Libraries

Following enquiries about libraries in Argyll and Bute, please find here the Council’s position (5 September 2025):

Live Argyll, who run libraries, had previously advised the Council of proposals to close certain libraries in Argyll and Bute. The Council would have required to consider whether there would remain an adequate library service in Argyll and Bute were these proposals to be implemented. Live Argyll has subsequently advised the Council that they no longer have proposals to close libraries, so there is no issue for the Council to consider. 

Looking to the future, Live Argyll requires to submit an annual business plan to the Council and if, in the future, that process includes changes to library services or if such proposals arose via some other route, these would be considered by the Council.
