Argyll & Bute Council in partnership with Sustrans are investigating the implementation of a new walking and cycling path in Lochgilphead that will run from the Front Green to the Crinan Canal.
Argyll and Bute Council have commissioned Stantec to carry out a new route option appraisal for a new active travel path linking the Lochgilphead Front Green with The Crinan Canal.
A route options appraisal was carried out in 2020 where a preferred route was identified. However in 2021 the best practice design guidance for cycling infrastructure, Cycling by Design, was updated. If this project is to be successful in receiving external funding through the Sustrans Places Everyone programme we need to create a design that will deliver the highest level of service possible in accordance with the Cycling by Design principles.
‘etween 30th January and 27th February 2023 Stantec led a public consultation to help identify the best deliverable option for a route that was in keeping with the new Cycling By Design Principles. The results from this consultation will be available shortly and we would like to thank everyone who took part.
