C029 Inverinan and Achachenna Bridges

Two bridges on West Loch Awe will undergo maintenance work during May and June.

Update 16 June 2026

C029-130 Inverinan Bridge 

All repair work to the abutments, invert, edge beam and steel beams have been completed. Both new steel beams have been installed along with concrete pad foundations. Contractor is now off site and will return on August 2026 to complete VRS and parapet installation. Temporary barriers are in place to protect travelling public. 

C029-160 

Achachenna Bridge – Repair work to the concrete edge beam and verge are completed. Both new steel beams have been installed along with concrete pad foundations. A new reinforced concrete edge beam has also been installed. Contractor is now off site and will return on August 2026 to complete VRS and parapet installation. Temporary barriers are in place to protect travelling public. 

21 April 2026

The C029-130 Inverinan Bridge and C029-160 Achachenna Bridge will both undergo works beginning in May and completing by the end of June 2026.

Work on Achachenna Bridge will start on 5 May.

Work on Inverinan Bridge is programmed to commence on 9 May.

At present work at all sites are expected to be carried out under traffic lights with no weight restrictions therefore minimising disruption to the community.

The works at both sites include:

  • installation of new edge beams
  • repairs to abutments, inverts and steel beams
  • parapet upgrades
  • Vehicle Restraint System installation
