Public drinking byelaws

In some areas of Argyll and Bute there are byelaws in place prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in public.

In some areas of Argyll and Bute (shown on the plans below) there are byelaws in place prohibiting the consumption of alcohol in public.

If you drink alcohol in these places, or are found with an open container of alcohol in one of these places, in circumstances where it is reasonable to infer that you intended to drink from it, you will be guilty of an offence, and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 2 on the standard scale .

These byelaws do not apply on 31st  December, from 6pm until the end of that day and on 1st January, until 6am.

Helensburgh and Lomond
