£500,000 footpath investment for Argyll and Bute

Twenty-three footpaths across Argyll and Bute will benefit from an additional £500,000 investment as part of an ongoing programme to improve the quantity and quality of dropped kerb crossing points, and overall service improvement works.

The work includes resurfacing footpaths and improving access for all abilities by dropping kerbs at crossing points. Work will start towards the end of the year across a number of locations including Islay, Rothesay, Mull, Helensburgh, Innellan and Oban.

Argyll and Bute Council is responsible for approximately one million square meters of adopted footway network.

Councillor Andrew Kain, Policy Lead for Roads and Transport:

“We have a dedicated team working hard to improve footways across Argyll and Bute. The additional funding is welcome and enables further improvements to take place as part of continued efforts to improve access for residents and visitors.”
