Delivering medical equipment, transporting patients to hospital, welcoming tourists and providing vital links to the mainland are just some of the critical roles air services play across Argyll and Bute.
A new Scottish Government consultation has launched to consider the future of aviation services in Scotland.
Argyll and Bute Council is encouraging communities and businesses to have their say on the importance of regular and reliable air services to the region.
Transport Scotland is inviting responses to the online public consultation by 21st January 2022.

“Our communities are spread across a wide geographical region including many rural and island areas. Aviation has always played a crucial role in connecting us.
“The air industry continues to provide lifeline services every day to many residents. During lockdown, having that vital link to mainland services proved even more essential.
“It’s absolutely vital that our rural and island communities continue to have access to properly funded, reliable and regular air services to connect them to essential support and services. I would urge as many people as possible to register your views on these lifeline services. ”
The Scottish Government’s aim in developing the strategy is to consider how Scotland can continue to enjoy the economic and social benefits of air travel while meeting its ambitious net-zero targets.
